Online Membership Renewals for 2026/7 have closed

If you wish to reinstate your lapsed membership or change to Associate status, please contact the Membership Secretary.

Associated membership with other u3as

We welcome current members of other u3as to join as Associate Members of Hartley Wintney & District u3a [HW u3a] if they wish. Associate membership costs £16.

Attending Meetings

All who wish to participate in HW u3a group activities and/or attend our Monthly Meetings must be either an Individual Member or an Associate Member at Hartley Wintney & District u3a. Only paid up members are covered by our insurance.

Those considering HW u3a are welcome at one taster session before committing to join.

Monthly Meetings

Our monthly Speaker Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month in the Victoria Hall and start promptly at 10:30am.

Health & Wellbeing

A series of events by professionals aimed at providing the members with more informed knowledge so they can better communicate with their GPs when they need to. This is a joint initiative with Odiham & District u3a that's led by Odiham u3a.

Understanding Issues that may affect your Cardiac Health

The next talk in the series by Dr Os Alsanjari, Consultant Cardiologist, will be at the Basingstoke Country Hotel from 19:00 to 21:00 on Thursday 19th November 2026. We will be sending a link to all members to have the opportunity to book your tickets at the beginning of November.

As Dr Alsanjari’s previous talks were fully booked, we expect strong interest once again for this session. Prompt booking is advised.

Cholesterol

Hypertension

On Thursday 30 July 2026 Consultant Cardiologist Dr. Os Alsanjari gave a talk to Hartley Wintney and Odiham u3as on:
“Hypertension: the silent pressure on your heart and blood vessels. What it means, why it matters, and what you can do about it”.

Publicity Team

The Publicity Team is not a Group (it is part of Support Services). The team is responsible for all advertising and running events such as the Village Festival stand and the gazebo in the High Street [last August]. It also produces the write-ups of each Speaker Meeting for the website. 

There are only four in the team, and they could do with some extra help. If you can help, please contact Madeleine Kudlac or Peter Johnson.

National Competition Success

Sarah Wood came second out of 525 entries in the National u3a Short story competition 2025 with her story "Finding the Key to Lost Memories".

Beacon

Beacon is the u3a movement’s integrated membership, groups, finance and mailing system. It’s important both to HW u3a and you, our member, that your information on Beacon is correct. Please check this in July each year (before membership renewals open) and remember to update it if anything changes.

If you've not already set a password, you'll be prompted to create one. As a reminder, for your own protection, passwords should be "strong" - typically at least eight characters long, contain a mixture of uppercase and lowercase letters and at least one digit.
